"SMALL TALK"

Spring 2007

For those of you who miss the winter season in Rochford, we thought you would like to see the 'Small' as it looks at Christmastime. This photo was taken by Colleen's daughter Peg just as the snow started to fall. With the wood stoves fired up, the ambiance is very cozy and people have a hard time going back out into the cold.

The best pre-holiday event was the ornament exchange which took place in the Moonshine Gulch at the beginning of December. The 'rules of the event' are that everyone brings a wrapped ornament and takes a number. Number 1 starts it off with his/her choice from the pile. Number 2 can make a new selection or take the one that Number 1 had chosen. If Number 1 no longer has an ornament he/she chooses a new one and then Number 3 starts the process all over again. 28 people participated this year and it lasted about 3 hours. By the end of that time, the competition for the most popular ornaments gets pretty wild, because some ornaments have changed hands dozens of times ! If you are ever in Rochford during December, this is an event you won't want to miss. Things have been much quieter since then :-)

Spring is in the air and things are beginning to green up in the Hills. Warm days have brought out the off-road vehicles as well as the motorcycle riders. We all hope for more rain as it still is very dry. There are also 17 new puppies in Rochford !!

Colleen and Jerie have been working on paintings for a new series. Go to the Artwork page to see some progress pictures of the first one and check back often as we will add photos as they become available. We appreciate all the traffic on our web site and all the positive feedback we have been getting. We open for weekends May 5th and will switch to 6 days a week (everyday but Monday) on the Memorial Day weekend.
