"The friendliest little Ghost Town in the heart of the Black Hills"
Meet the Artists
Colleen Langley and Jerie Rydstrom met over 14 years ago in a class Colleen was teaching. We are both South Dakota born and raised. Over time our friendship developed based on our common interests in the arts. We also discovered we had a lot of parallel skills in the building construction industry! This combination led us to develop a successful business known as
The Rochford Mall.
Artists often have a style that is so personal they become known for it. Colleen has done drawings and paintings for years and has been commissioned to do specific pieces. Jerie had done very little in watercolor paintings, but at Colleen's urging, decided to try her hand at it. Our styles are very different. Colleen paints with a dry brush technique which works well on motorcycles and buildings, while Jerie likes to use more water and blend the colors for portraits and landscapes. We do some of our work individually and some pieces are a joint effort. The different styles seem to blend well and we like the challenge of finishing a piece the other one has started !
The reflections on chrome have always been the attraction for Colleen and the uniqueness of faces has been the magnet for Jerie. Our subject matter has expanded in the past eight years, and we are branching out into new areas that have turned out to be popular with our customers. Between the two of us we have enough ideas for new paintings to last for years to come!
Because of the nature of our subject matter, we both work from photographs
